Each year the Gala of Hope honours someone who has made a huge difference in the medical community. This years winners are:
TARA HOOPER - Administration Breast Screening Program, MDRCC
Since the inception of Ontario Breast Screening program at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in September 2006, Tara Hooper has been the clerk who has devoted countless hours to the development of the program. Tara brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position as she has held various clerical positions through out Lakeridge such as the Operating room, inpatient units and various clinical areas within the diagnostic imaging department both at the Oshawa and Bowmanville sites.
Tara consistently advocates for all women who are part of the OBSP program. Her dedication to a high standard of care and ongoing advocacy for these women is quite noteworthy. She follows the pathway of these patients and quickly recognizes and acts on any detour or delay in what is required. Colleagues from the regional OBSP office consistently acknowledge Tara’s work. Examples of their feedback include: “The clients in your region are lucky to have Tara as part of the team!!” “Please thank Tara for being so on top of things with OBSP and Breast Assessment.”
Tara’s resourcefulness is not only evident to the OBSP team but to her colleagues throughout Lakeridge health. Radiologists, clerks, nursing, and management team have often been observed approaching Tara to assist with a challenging situation. Tara’s insight and meticulous approach to problem solving strongly contributes to the successful resolution of these situations.
